World setting
The year is around 2300. The world is a series of islands which are the only solid ground that remains after the planet-shifting events of the war and the rise of the Angels. Separated islands have different architecture, stories, and general vibes. The higher in level that we go, we find more Angel architecture and a more controlled environment. While in lower levels, we find leftovers of humans and chaos.
The artificial sun can heat with low radius, so the world lives in desert (orange), forest (green), and snow (blue) biomes as seen on the graph:
Besides the scattered land mass of the islands, the world has Heaven, the solid structure that features the highest point called the End. Here lie the most powerful AI entities and the GAID cluster that controls them.
The islands and Heaven are connected with powerful but guarded Maglev trains that travel high above the surface, located on massive pylons. The same lines and their trains should be occasionally visible from maps and areas, so that they remind the players of their existence. However, no Maglev line will be accessible in the matches or play any role in low-level gameplay, apart from being a narrative element. Trains are fully automatic. Getting permission to the next area is basically the biggest progress. To get to the End, players must fight their way through the islands and find a way to board the six Maglev connections until they reach Heaven island. Once on Heaven, they will have to find a way to ascend the End.
Each travel point (between 1 and 2, 2 and 3, etc.) will be defined through quests in the Glory Run that the player needs to complete. Once they do, they have access to the same island and new areas/maps that they offer, which allow the game to be played in a generally consistent way. At the same time, each island will feature an ecosystem of its own and allow for the diversity of maps and locations, without having to overhaul the game with each new island.
